A ribbon in your hair

flowers in the sun

I tied a ribbon
in your hair,
you asked me
to pull it tight.

A lock of curls
did not dare,
outshine it
in golden light.

The simple thread
will not fall,
because its
 fastened with might.

Oh simple bandeau
hang on well,
for you hold
my heart's delight.

The forest in January

The trees lay bare
under the white blanket.
Naked and lonesome
in the chilly frost.

Unexpected
they were when I arrived here.
No other footsteps
sought their company.

Love's Lights

Two hearts facing, light, to light,
waves lapping gently at the sand,
flames flickering in the night,
paper lanterns in their hands.

Slightest breeze of ocean air,
stars twinkling high above,
witnesses this joyous pair
as they declare their tender love.

Flames expanding, lanterns fly,
two hearts swelling full of joy,
candles dancing in the sky
match this dance of girl and boy.

All along the beach this hour
candles dancing in the sky
to the stars they share their power,
for such love the heavens sigh.

Merging

discovering flowers on the trees

And when all activity deserts me
And when I’m left with this stillness
All That Is descends and overcomes me
It is a love that tears the heart open
That rips it like fabric, even as a veil is torn.
The too-muchness, the torrent of a truth
That overflows its categories
That bashes the riverbanks of duality
Into subatomic particles.
In this moment, I know
All I can do is allow its extraordinary flow
I cannot attempt to grasp or understand.

My mind lays on the river’s edge, cast aside,
As useless as a ventriloquist’s dummy.

And I watch my blood turn to sparks of Light
I am Her, and then me again.
She is beautiful, the one who gives shelter
Who has seen death and is still shining
Resplendent, she comes to be here
Arms open, she comes to hold the children
To rock us and love us and sing us her soft truth
Even seeing what she’s seen
Even knowing what she knows
She chooses to walk the Earth
To return, to differentiate from Source

For love, for love, for love.

Flowers in October

IMGP0581

October flowers
who would have guessed?
A scent so sweet
I have been blessed.

A true mystery
it is to solve.
How pleasantly
my sins absolve.

I'll never forget
your love so sweet!
You've healed my heart
with vases deep.

The beach

ocean and white sandy beach

Soft, white, warm.
Mother nature's power, a sailor's bane, a turquoise mirror.
My future in my grasp, my beloved past bearing witness,
The new forever is found, kept, and promised.

Silver-haired trees

yellow and green tree leaves

Much like the silver
within our brown hair,
 autumn's yellow leaves
glorify the trees.

Naomi

Sara Davis-Eisenman and Naomi

Fecundity; her laughter spills
Like the softest, reddest roses
On the path to my magic garden.
The fullness of her vibration
Caresses and resounds; Velvet.
Devotion; I gladly lose myself
In the petals of her peals.
She laughs again; she is Love.

Sunburst waterfall

IMGP1888

Gold and red intertwined, cascading down.
From the source of ALL mystery and passion.
Feeding the sunburst waterfall from thoughts of love unending,
To rest my cheek there my only desire,
Till my cheek is a cracked dry riverbed,
Though my heart is as nourished as the day I drank her in.

The flying heart

bird in flight

A word.
A look.
A scent.
A smile.
A touch.
Heart-Flight!

The poem of you

couple shadow heart

Your hair is the softest noun.
Your eyes the bluest adjective.
Your curves an exclamation point!
You are the direct object of my heart.
Your kiss is the adverb that modifies my love.
When you walk into the room everyone else becomes a pronoun.

Top of the World

I stood atop a mountain
and surveyed the world around
I hope I can describe
the beauty that I found.

The splendor of the vista
in all directions grew
until it seemed creation
itself was in my view.

The grandeur of it all
took my breath away
and caused me to desire
that I forever stay.

The glory of this view
from oh-so high above,
became the world to me
on the mountain known as love.

The blight

blighted plants

Black, acrid, destructive.
Destroying the untended.
Fruits and flowers lost.
Maintenance, vigilance, is key.
Your soul, your being, is alive.

The end of the day

sunset on the farm

Don't be sad
just because today is over.
Tomorrow
will be much better than today.

For right now
enjoy the colors of the sky.
This sunset
will never be the same again.

The mural speaks

My stroll down the street
suddenly came to an end--
When the mural spoke.

I'm lucky I guess
murals don't speak everyday...
At least not to me.

 So you're wondering
what could a mural have said?
That's just between us.

Tree artists

The best artists I know
do not have hands or feet
but rather roots and leaves.

Their canvas is the sky
water-colored raindrops
the sunlight is their lamp.

A mosaic of green
a splash of emerald hues
envy of a clear sky.

No museum needed
no fancy gallery
just look up and you'll see.

A bug's view

Untitled

We smash toadstools
and run them over with the mower.

From our lofty view
they're none more than a common nuisance.

Ladybugs see them
from the top of a blade of grass.

To them they're like trees
towering above in lofty skies.

Moon flower

IMGP2590

As the day winds down
and evening approaches
sunset wears a frown
as the night encroaches.

Far too delicate
to be seen in the day
much too elegant
perfect in every way.

Moon flower withdraws
 her silky white gown
its not a faux pas
she shows off her crown.

Homage to the moon
her lover and friend
all the stars swoon
too soon it must end.

Brash sun peeks his head
like an ornery chum
folded not dead
'till the daylight succumb.

The rocky shore

IMGP2368

Rocks on the shore
hurt my bare feet.
Pebbles between my toes
so irritating.

The waves don't break
the placid calm.
Blissful surrender
to the rocky shore.

-Scott

Reflections

IMGP2282

I see clouds
when I look down.

I touch the sky
with my big toe.

I rip heaven
with a splash.

I tumble up
by jumping down.

Then I look up
and see clouds.
