What is worthy of comparison
to the great Tao?
I can not so much as speak of it
and do it justice.
Though I try to perceive it,
it is still obscured to me.
It is like the outline of a great mountain
obscured by fog.
I know it is there,
but I can not perceive it with any detail.
In the quiet depth of my meditation
I see it slightly better.
It is said that the Tao is the source of all things,
yet it commands nothing.
It is infinitely small,
yet it is the greatest.
It is light and dark at once,
motion and rest at the same time.
Is it paradox?
Yes and no.
The conscious mind plays tricks on us.
It keeps our mind racing.
It focuses on
the here and now.
But the conscious mind and all things around us
will fade away with time.
But the Tao
will not fade.
So how can you find the Tao?
Seek your own inner path.
In the stillness of meditation
the Tao will become known to you in time.
Do not try to grasp it.
But instead empty the mind and try not to grasp it.
Those who claim they have grasped the Tao and can tell you all about it
probably never really found it at all.
