are facinating
objects. They sail

Soaring higher and farther
than they ever thought
possible. They go
upward into the
abyss of the
sky until

earth--never knowing that the penance for pursuing their dreams is to be deflated and trampled.

I am struck bythis. I often get saddened by the sight of a lonely balloon. I instantly think a small child has lost it.

I suppose we've all accidentally let go of a balloon and watched it float away at one time or another--the loss of the balloon is sad, but watching if fly away can elicit a feeling of freedom and maybe even a wish that we weren't so earth-bound.
